Indy Pro Series Practice 1: Wilson leads the way
Brian Stewart Racing driver Bobby Wilson was P1 in the Indy Pro Series’ first practice session at St. Petersburg (Fla.), which ended around 15-20 minutes ago. The Ocala, Fla. native and driver of the No.1 Ocala Grand Prix machine spun the fastest lap around the 1.8-mile street circuit with a time of 1 minute, 7.7336 seconds at 95.669 m.p.h. The only other driver to break the 95 m.p.h. mark in the session was South African pilot Steven Simpson, who was .4249 seconds back of Wilson. Simpson, driver of the No. 24 for Kenn Hardley Racing, set his fastest time of 1 minute, 8.1585 seconds at 95.073 m.p.h.
Last week’s winner Alex Lloyd stuck his No. 7 Sam Schmidt Motorsports machine in third place on the charts (1:08.3083, 94.864), followed by Super Aguri Panther Racing’s Hideki Mutoh in the No. 55 (1:08.3442, 94.814) and Jay Howard in his No. 42 Speedworks entry (1:08.9756, 93.946) to complete the morning top five.
