Sebastian Saavedra wins Indy Lights race at Kansas
Sebastian Saavedra has won the Kansas Lottery 100 for the Firestone Indy Lights series under yellow at Kansas Speedway. The Colombian driver was in the lead when Dillon Battistini and Pippa Mann crashed with around nine laps to go to bring out the yellow that would close the crash-filled race.
Six cautions for 32 laps marred the event. The scariest of these was a big three-car incident involving Rodrigo Barbosa, Ali Jackson and Sergei Mokshantsev that sent Mokshantsev’s machine flying over the top of one car before landing on its side. All three drivers were OK after the wreck, which occurred in the early stages of the event.
The race was moved up two hours to an 11 a.m. ET start due to possible severe weather in the Kansas City area this afternoon. The IndyCar Series’ 300-miler is still set to go off at 5 p.m. ET.
