Paul Tracy steps in for Moraes at Mid-Ohio
KV Racing Technology has confirmed that Paul Tracy will drive Mario Moraes’ No. 5 Azul Tequila/Votorantim-backed entry in Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. According to Canada’s TSN, Moraes remains in Brazil after the death of his father earlier this week.
In a statement, Tracy thanked both KVRT and Moraes for “thinking of [him] during this unfortunate situation” and that he would dedicate this weekend to “achieving the best result possible in honor of Mario and his family.”
Tracy has raced in five IndyCar Series events this year, four of them with KVRT. His best finish so far came last month in Edmonton, where he placed sixth.
